Steve Dunn: Junior Gaiters Basketball Academy Director
Entering his 12th season as an assistant coach with the Bishop’s Gaiters Men’s Team, Steve remains as enthusiastic as ever about teaching, coaching basketball. He brings over 29 years of coaching experience, working across North America—from the Atlantic to the Pacific to the Arctic, and many places in between. His coaching journey spans from primary aged athletes to 5th year university players, giving him a truly rich and wide ranging expertise.
Steve thrives in developing players, teams, and high performance culture. Much of his postgraduate work and published research focuses on creating optimal environments for athletic development. As an award winning and nationally recognized Physical Education specialist, he has served as a teacher, coach, and administrator, consistently fostering strong, successful programs.
Over the years, Steve has guided dozens of male and female athletes who have advanced beyond post secondary basketball to play professionally. Steve’s vision in creating the Gaiters Basketball Academy is rooted in developing athletes across the entire basketball journey from first introduction to the sport through elite competition. The Academy now supports every stage of youth basketball development, helping players progress naturally as they grow in both skill and age.
